India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: Schedule-I Notification Out

India Post (Department of Posts) has officially released the notification for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Schedule-I, January 2026. They’re inviting applications for Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak roles. If you’ve passed 10th grade, this is a great chance to land a government job—no written exam required.

Refund Policy: Fee once paid will not be refunded. Even if you edit your category later to an exempted one, the fee will not be returned.

4. Zone-wise Vacancy Details

Openings are spread across different Circles (States) and Divisions. The exact numbers are listed on the official portal, but the roles are grouped into the following categories:

5. Selection Process

The selection is purely based on Merit (10th Marks). There is NO Written Exam and NO Interview.

  1. Shortlisting: A system-generated merit list is prepared based on 10th Class marks (4 decimal accuracy).
  2. Tie-Breaking Rule: If two candidates have the same marks, priority is given to: Older Candidate (DOB) > Gender preference (ST Transwoman > ST Female > SC Transwoman etc.).
  3. Result Declaration: Selected candidates will receive an SMS/Email and the list will be published on the portal.
  4. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must verify documents within 15 days.

6. Merit Calculation (For Grade System)

Since there is no exam pattern, it is important to understand how marks are calculated if your board gives Grades/CGPA.

Conversion Formula: Grade Point × 9.5 = Percentage Marks.
Example: If you have A1 Grade (10 Points), your score will be considered as 95%.

Applications are accepted only via Online Mode. Follow these steps:

Part-A: One-Time Registration (OTR)

  1. Go to the official portal (Link below) and click "New Candidate Registration".
  2. Fill in details (Name, DOB, Father's Name) exactly as per 10th Marksheet.
  3. Verify Mobile Number & Email via OTP.
  4. Get your unique Registration Number.

Part-B: Online Application Form

  1. Login using Registration No. and Password.
  2. Select the Circle (State) where you passed 10th Class.
  3. Fill marks/grades and select your Division Preferences.
  4. Upload Photo (JPG, 20-50KB) and Signature (JPG, 10-20KB).
  5. Pay the fee (if applicable) and submit the form.

Q1: Can I submit multiple applications?
No. One candidate can register only once. Multiple applications will be rejected.

Q2: Is there a Correction Window?
Yes, you can correct your form from 18th to 19th Feb 2026.
